APEC Regulatory Harmonization

Northeastern is an APEC Regulatory Harmonization Steering Committee Center of Excellence in Biotherapeutics and Advanced Therapies. Through regulator-focused education, case studies, and hands-on training, Northeastern supports regulatory capacity building and convergence across APEC economies.

NIBRT, Ireland

Northeastern’s strategic collaboration with Ireland’s National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training connects two global leaders in biopharmaceutical research, analytics, and workforce education. The partnership advances bioanalytical characterization and prepares scientists and technicians for modern biomanufacturing.

BioConnects New England

Led by Northeastern, BioConnects New England builds stronger connections among communities, academic institutions, government, and biotechnology employers. Its goal is to expand biomanufacturing infrastructure, create inclusive career pathways, and extend biotechnology opportunities beyond established industry centers.

Global Regulatory Training

Northeastern is an APEC Center of Excellence and has served as an ICH Training Associate and trusted training partner. Collaborations with WHO, ICH, APEC, national regulators, and industry translate international standards into practical education in biologics, advanced therapies, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory science.

Gates Foundation Collaboration

Northeastern has collaborated with the Gates Foundation and global regulators to explore innovative approaches to regulatory capacity building. This includes a Gates-funded pilot using mixed reality to support collaborative remote GMP inspections with regulators from Africa and the World Health Organization.

Amgen Biotech Experience

The Amgen Biotech Experience Massachusetts program, based at Northeastern’s Innovation Campus, introduces middle and high school students to biotechnology through hands-on laboratory experiences. By also training educators, the program builds interest in life sciences at the earliest stage of the workforce pathway.

LEARN Lab

The Learning, Experimentation and AI Research Network, or LEARN Lab, advances evidence-based uses of AI in education. It supports the design, testing, and evaluation of AI-enhanced approaches that can make scientific and professional training more accessible, scalable, and effective.
